Skyy Vodka is produced by Skyy Spirits – a San Francisco, California based spirits brand founded in 1992 and currently owned by Gruppo Campari. They produce a small lineup of vodka and flavored vodka products, the production of which moved to one of Campari’s Illinois facilities after acquisition in 2009.
Their flagship vodka is made with a grain base, distilled 4 times, and filtered 3 times through California limestone. The water used to adjust the proof is enriched with minerals which mirror the minerals found in the Pacific coastal waters of the area, including sodium, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. It is bottled at 80 proof.

I began to get a whiff of this vodka, and there were strong notes of yeasty grain. As I continued, the scent became sweeter over time.
I took a sip, and there were notes of sweet corn, with a burst of heat in the finish. The heat mellowed over time, but the sweet grain flavor stayed, and had a surprisingly interesting depth to it. As I sipped, I felt a warmth in my chest.
❖ 1.5oz Vodka
❖ 1/2oz Triple sec
❖ 1/2oz Banana liqueur
❖ 1.5oz Pineapple juice
❖ 3/4oz Orange juice
❖ 1/3oz Grenadine syrup
❖ 1/4oz Lime juice
Inside of a cocktail, this vodka was mostly undetectable, but added a nice sense of depth and well-roundedness to the mixture. The drink was delicious, fruity, and smooth.
RATING: 5/5
Overall, I was pretty impressed with this bottle of Skyy Vodka. I think it’s an excellent budget option, that outperforms a lot of vodkas that are more expensive. It’s smooth, tasty, and blends in well into a cocktail.
Although it’s not my all time favorite vodka, it will absolutely be my go-to recommendation for the price point until further notice. If you’re looking to pay as little as possible for your vodka without enduring disgusting flavor, do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle of Skyy.
As always, drink responsibly.
