Bottle of Goldschläger Cinnamon Schnapps sitting on a wooden table

Goldschläger is a unique Cinnamon Schnapps first created in Switzerland. Currently, the brand is owned by Sazerac, and production takes place in Italy. The name of the product was inspired by the profession of “gold beating”. Goldschlägers or “gold beaters” would create sheets of gold leaf by hammering the gold into a thin layer. To go with this theme, each bottle of Goldschläger contains small flecks of real gold, which are in fact edible. This particular bottle of Jamaica Rum is one of their “single island” blends, meaning that it includes rums from a few different estates located on the island of Jamaica. They are aged for a range of 3-5 years in American white oak bourbon barrels – with the exception of one unaged, high-ester rum. The […]

Smith & Cross Traditional Jamaica Rum

The different rums used in this blend are each distilled in Jamaica at the Hampden Estate Distillery, before being aged for a range of 6 months to 3 years. They make a point to advertise that this blend is not chill filtered, which results in a high ester product with potentially more character. It also does not include any added sugar before bottling. Buckeye Amaretto Liqueur

Buckeye Amaretto Liqueur is produced by Buckeye Distillery, a family-owned distillery located in Tipp City, Ohio. Founded in 2009, Buckeye creates a variety of spirits including vodka, wine, and liqueurs. When I first stumbled upon this brand online, I was immediately excited to try at least one of their liqueurs. With The Ohio State University being my alma mater, the Buckeye spirit holds a special place in my heart. Since Amaretto is so versatile, I knew I had to try out the Buckeye Amaretto.
