Nixta Liqueur (AKA “Licor de Elote”) is produced by Destilería y Bodega Abasolo – a distillery located in Jilotepec, Méx., México. Created as a unique corn liqueur, Nixta is made from the Mexican ancestral Cacahuazintle variety of corn commonly known as hominy in the US. Surprisingly, Nixta is the world’s first corn liqueur, having launched in the year 2020. It is currently the only liqueur of its kind on the […]
Borgata Chocolate Liqueur is produced by Nuove Distillerie Vincenzi in the Turin area of northwest Italy, with the help of other local facilities. Though I use the term liqueur for clarity’s sake, you may notice that the bottle actually refers to this spirit as a “chocolate specialty”. It’s a chocolate flavored spirit that is often marketed by retailers as being rich and luxurious, despite being dairy-free. […]

I must admit, I’m often guilty of popping cutesy Trader Joe’s brand products into my cart “just to try it”. On other days, I have better self-control – which is why I actually haven’t tried Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Cream Liqueur until now, despite it being available […]
Cointreau is produced by Rémy Cointreau, a Paris-based company that was founded in 1990 as a result of a merger. The liqueur itself, however, dates back to 1885 when the Cointreau family perfected its signature beverage in Angers, France. According to the official Cointreau website, the flavor of this liqueur was three times as concentrated as other liqueurs of the time period, while also being less sweet. To […]
