I don’t have much experience with champagne or even sparkling wine, but I was so excited to receive this bottle of Lapin Rouille Champagne as a New Years gift from my mother. And, not only was this a perfect start to the new year, but also a great introduction to an exciting new champagne brand. Lapin Rouille Champagne is the debut product from Rusty Rabbit International, a business consultancy company based in London. Though not known primarily as a spirits distributor, Rusty Rabbit’s drink division has been slowly expanding under CEO Nicole Johnson, which also gives them the distinction of the first female black-owned champagne in […]
Carolans Irish Cream is produced by TJ Carolan & Son Limited in Clonmel, Ireland – a town located in County Tipperary. First created in 1978, the Carolans brand is currently owned by Heaven Hill in Bardstown, Kentucky. The name is a tribute to a 17th-century Irish harpist and composer named Turlough O’Carolan. Though not many production details are disclosed, Carolans seems to take pride in its fresh and local […]
Of all the many different types of Scotch whisky, I have the least familiarity with blended scotch. And while browsing for something new to try, I was immediately drawn to the three brass monkeys on the bottle of Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch whisky. Blended Scotches are made using a mixture of whiskies from different distilleries, and a variety of grains can be used. Monkey Shoulder is a blend of 3 different malt whiskies from the Speyside region of Scotland. Monkey Shoulder is a relatively new offering from one of the oldest scotch making families, William Grant & Sons. They opened their first distillery in 1887, and continue to […]

Created as a unique corn liqueur, Nixta is made from the Mexican ancestral Cacahuazintle variety of corn commonly known as hominy in the US. Surprisingly, Nixta is the world’s first corn liqueur, having launched in the year 2020. It is currently the only liqueur of its kind on the […]
After my recent experience with Redbreast 12, I was eager to try another Irish whiskey. And, I thought it would be a nice comparison to try Green Spot Irish Whiskey since it’s from the same distillery, but has a very different flavor profile.
Green Spot is a single pot stilled Irish whiskey currently distilled in the Midleton Distillery, the same distillery as Redbreast and Jameson. It’s produced in collaboration with Mitchell and Son’s, the originator of the Green Spot brand.
The Mitchell family were well know in Dublin, Ireland in the early 1800’s as tea, confectionary, and wine merchants, but expanded their business to include whiskey […]
