JAJA Blanco Tequila

JAJA Blanco Tequila is created by JAJA Spirits – a Las Vegas, Nevada based brand who works with tequila producers in Jalisco. First launched in 2018, it was founded by Elliot Tebele, Maurice Tebele, and Martin Hoffstein. As a brand, their aim is to create a tequila that is both fun and high quality, rather than one or the other. Their tequila is created under the direction of master distiller Marco Anguiano. They use 100% Blue Agave sourced from Jalisco that is grown for 8 years prior to harvesting. It is cooked for about 32-40 hours, rested for 8 hours, and then fermented with proprietary yeast for 72 hours. It is double distilled in copper […]

1800 Blanco Tequila

Although we’ve tried a lot of blanco tequilas at this point, I’m still always on the look out for other affordable options for making cocktails. And since I’ve always been curious about 1800 Blanco Tequila, and the weather has been perfect for some refreshing cocktails, I thought it was finally time to check it out. 1800 Tequila gets its name from the year they began distilling and aging tequila. They still use the same recipe, and all of their tequilas are made from 100% Weber blue agave. 1800 Blanco Tequila is made using a blend of blanco tequilas to maintain a consistent flavor. LALO Blanco Tequila

LALO Blanco Tequila is produced by LALO – a smaller, Mexican-owned brand based in Austin, Texas. It was founded in 2019 by David Carballido and maestro tequilero Lalo González, who is the grandson of Don Julio González Estrada (yes, THAT Don Julio). As a brand, they aim to celebrate modern Mexico with a pure, high quality product that honors the agave plant. Their Agave is sourced from the highlands of Jalisco, and is hand-picked at between around 6-7 years old. It gets steamed for 20-32 hours in a special brick oven, and then rested for about 18 hours, before having the juices extracted via roller mill. The juice is then fermented with […]

Sauza Hacienda Tequila

Now that the weather’s finally starting to warm up, It’s finally time to make some refreshing tequila cocktails. The first bottle that caught my eye was the affordable Sauza Hacienda Tequila Silver. Emmeline has previously reviewed a product from Casa Sauza, Sauza 100 Años, so more history on the brand can be found there. Sauza Hacienda is produced using a gentle extraction method. This is when the agave juices are cooked only after being extracted from the pina. Like all of their other tequila, Sauza Hacienda is produced in La Perseverancia Distillery in Jalisco, Mexico. Mijenta Blanco Tequila

Mijenta Blanco Tequila is produced by Mijenta Tequila, an Arandas-based tequila brand co-founded in 2020 by Mike Dolan, Juan Coronado, Elise Som, and Ana María Romero (the master distiller). Created at Casa Tequilera de Arandas in Arandas, Jalisco, Mijenta boasts a fully carbon neutral production process. They are also the first B-corp certified tequila brand as of late 2022. The agave is grown in a red clay soil that is rich in minerals such as iron and lime – which adds to the sense of “terrior” in the flavor. Their sustainable practices begin in the field, where they carefully maintain biodiversity, and avoid pesticides/herbicides. […]
