Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila

I’ve been going through a margarita phase this summer so I’ve been going through blanco tequila pretty quickly. On my last shopping trip, Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila immediately caught my eye because of the embossed “100% Agave” on the interestingly shaped glass bottle. But I didn’t regret my purchase after using the tequila and learning more about the company behind it.

Olmeca Altos was founded by two world famous bartenders, Dre Masso and the late Henry Besant, along with master distiller Jesus Hernandez. Their goal was to create an affordable and sustainable tequila for both bartenders and tequila […]

Pallini Peachcello White Peach Liqueur

Pallini Peachcello White Peach Liqueur is produced by Pallini, a family-run company known for its specialty liqueurs and syrups. Originally founded in Antrodoco, Italy in 1875, Pallini moved its facilities to Rome in the 1920’s. The company is still family-run to this day, passing the trade down to at least 5 generations. They introduced their Peachcello liqueur around 1999 – roughly the same time as their world […]

The Botanist Gin

The first things that come to mind when I imagine the Islay region of Scotland are the distinct smoke and seawater flavors of Scotch whisky the local distilleries have spent many decades perfecting. But the Bruichladdich distillery are attempting branch out while still highlighting the natural beauty of the Islays with their relatively new offering, The Botanist Gin.

Introduced in 2011, The Botanist is an Islay dry gin from the historic distillery, Bruichladdich. They’re well known for Scotch whiskies like the Octomore, one of the most heavily peated Scotches in the world but the Botanist is a much less intimidating spirit.

A red number […]

Bottle of Cazadores Tequila Reposado sitting on a wooden table, in front of a mixed white and wooden background

Cazadores Tequila Reposado

Cazadores Tequila Reposado is produced in Arandas – a town in the Highland region of Jalisco, Mexico. Established by Don Felix Bañuelos in 1973, Cazadores creates their tequila using a family recipe that had been kept secret for decades since 1922. In 2002, the family-run company (and their distillery) was bought out by Bacardi. Despite the ownership change, Cazadores seems to have retained their original tequila recipe as well as the traditional processes and community spirit that drive the company’s branding.

All of Cazadores tequilas are made using double distillation and double fermentation. According to […]

Froggy B Vodka

Something I really enjoy about chain liquor stores, like Total Wine or Bevmo, is browsing the huge number of spirits I’ve never seen before. I always leave myself some time to browse the shelfs but rarely impulse buy anything. But I was so enamored with the Froggy B Vodka label that I had to have it. I’ll pretty much buy anything that reminds me of Gex, the mediocre video game series from the late 90’s.

Froggy B Vodka is a straight forward, wheat-based vodka from France. The organic wheat comes from the Beauce region but the rest of the distilling is done in copper stills in the Cognac region. In fact, Froggy B is certified organic by […]
