About Il Tramonte Limoncello

Il Tramonto Limoncello Liqueur is produced by Il Tramonto – an Italy based spirits brand that produces a small lineup of liqueur products using old family recipes. As a brand, they aim to create products that evoke a bright cheerfulness, as represented by their brand name meaning “sunset” in Italian.

This particular bottle of Limoncello is made using Sicilian lemons, the rinds of which are steeped in a neutral grain spirit, before being distilled and sweetened.

My Tasting notes

The nose notes of this liqueur were fairly neutral. There wasn’t much of a noticeable scent.

I took my first sip, and there were subtle lemon notes, followed by a bit of an aftertaste. Overall, the lemon flavor was minimal, but had a nice level of sweetness. The funky aftertaste distracted a bit from the flavors.

Cocktail

Navigator

  3. Garnish with a lemon twist.

My cocktail was slightly disappointing. I found that the limoncello was not quite sweet enough to balance out the bitterness of the grapefruit juice. The lemon flavor added a touch of freshness to the overall mix, but was otherwise not super noticeable. Although the alcohol was smooth, there was still an aftertaste in the flavor against mixers.

Bottom Line

RATING: 2/5

At the end of the day, Il Tramonto Limoncello Liqueur was a bit underwhelming. The lemon flavor was not as prominent as I hoped, and the unpleasant aftertaste made the whole experience less enjoyable.

Although this product is offered at a lower price point, I still feel that it didn’t quite measure up, and was not able to make a good tasting cocktail. I would not recommend this bottle of Il Tramonto Limoncello to a friend.

As always, drink responsibly.
