Tall bottle of Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur sitting on a wooden table, with a mixed white and wooden background

Frangelico

Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur is produced in Canales, a city in the Piedmont region of Italy. Though the brand is currently owned by the Italian company Gruppo Campari, the production of Frangelico has a much longer history dating back over 300 years. It was originally distilled by monks living in the region, and is even named after a particular hermit monk known as Fra’ Angelico. These origins are reflected in the unique bottle shape which resembles a friar’s robes.

The brand seems to pride itself on the quality of hazelnuts in the region, which are the basis of the liqueur’s flavor. According to the official Frangelico website, […]

Bottle of Trader Joe's Pumpkin Spice Cream Liqueur sitting on a wooden table, in front of a mixed white and wood background

Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Liqueur

If you have a Trader Joe’s supermarket in your area, you know that their specialty and seasonal products often have a bit of a cult following. I must admit, I’m often guilty of popping cutesy Trader Joe’s brand products into my cart “just to try it”. On other days, I have better self-control – which is why I actually haven’t tried Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Cream Liqueur until now, despite it being available […]

Bottle of Cointreau orange liqueur sitting on a wooden table, in front of a mixed white and wooden background

Cointreau

Cointreau is produced by Rémy Cointreau, a Paris-based company that was founded in 1990 as a result of a merger. The liqueur itself, however, dates back to 1885 when the Cointreau family perfected its signature beverage in Angers, France. According to the official Cointreau website, the flavor of this liqueur was three times as concentrated as other liqueurs of the time period, while also being less sweet. To […]

Pama Pomegranate Liqueur

I’ve been loving the recent increase in the smaller 325ml bottles at the larger spirit retailers. On one of my recent shopping trips, I picked up a few interesting looking liqueurs to try including PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur.

I didn’t have any prior knowledge of this liqueur and I was really surprised to see who produces it. The bottle states that its made in Bardstown, Kentucky but it’s the only clue it’s a Heaven Hill Distillery product. And even though I’d been researching their whiskey products recently, I’d never visited this separate website with their full product list.

PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur is intended to be a versatile spirit […]

Bottle of Malibu Coconut Rum sitting on a wooden table, in front of a mixed white and wooden background

Malibu Coconut Rum

Malibu Coconut Rum is produced by Pernod Ricard, a France-based company that owns a wide variety of different liquor brands worldwide. Despite the name it’s most commonly known by, Malibu Coconut Rum is not technically rum – which one can tell from taking a closer look at the bottle. The label actually reads “Caribbean Rum With Coconut Liqueur” – as in many places it can’t be legally considered rum, and is […]
