Tanqueray No. Ten

Even before my first experience with Tanqueray, the recent review for Tanqueray London Dry Gin, I had heard murmurs around the internet and Youtube that Tanqueray No. Ten was an upgrade. So after finding the London Dry somewhat underwhelming, I was eager to see if these claims held any weight. Tanqueray No. Ten launched in 2000, and was Tanqueray’s attempt to modernize their legendary gin. They use the same four botanicals as the London dry: juniper, coriander, angelica root, and licorice, and add chamomile, grapefruit, lime, and orange. BOTTLE SPECS ❖ Spirit: Contemporary Gin ❖ Distillery: Produced and Bottled in Great Britian for Charles […]

Caleño Dark & Spicy Non-Alcoholic Rum

Caleño Dark & Spicy Non-Alcoholic Rum is produced by Caleño – a U.K. based non-alcoholic spirits company founded by Ellie Webb in 2017. As a brand, Caleño aims to create more inspiring non-alcoholic drink offerings, while also capturing the vibrant spirit of Colombia. The company received B Corp status in 2023. This particular bottle of Dark & Spicy features coconut, pineapple, black cardamom, and kola nut. It also contains water, glycerine, caramel coloring, citric acid, and some necessary preservatives. Sauza Hacienda Tequila

Now that the weather’s finally starting to warm up, It’s finally time to make some refreshing tequila cocktails. The first bottle that caught my eye was the affordable Sauza Hacienda Tequila Silver. Emmeline has previously reviewed a product from Casa Sauza, Sauza 100 Años, so more history on the brand can be found there. Sauza Hacienda is produced using a gentle extraction method. This is when the agave juices are cooked only after being extracted from the pina. Like all of their other tequila, Sauza Hacienda is produced in La Perseverancia Distillery in Jalisco, Mexico. BOTTLE SPECS ❖ Spirit: Tequila Silver ❖ Distillery: La Perseverancia […]

Agave Boom Prickly Pear Tequila

Agave Boom Prickly Pear Tequila is produced by Casa Maestri, and distributed by the Houston-based company Mexcor. The brand website proclaims that the goal with Agave Boom was to create a “new tequila for the new generations”, although it’s not immediately clear what they mean by this, as the production process they describe seems fairly standard. Each version features a fun, comic-inspired bottle design, including a 3D embroidered agave plant. Their agave is sourced from Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico, and roasted in a traditional oven for about 36-56 hours. It is then shredded, fermented in wooden vats, and distilled twice. This unaged blanco […]

Adictivo Whiskey

While there are thousands of whiskies from all over the world, I don’t recall ever encountering one from Mexico. However, given the increasing demand for whiskey, distilleries are starting to diversify. Adictivo Tequila is a recent example, and has recently launched Adictivo Whiskey. Adictivo Whiskey is a small-batch single malt whiskey produced and bottled by Vitro Tequilera in Jalisco, Mexico. This spirit is aged for 5 years in American Oak casks, and finished in Adictivo tequila casks. BOTTLE SPECS❖ Spirit: Small Batch Whiskey from Mexico ❖ Distillery: Produced and Bottled by Vitro Tequilera ❖ ABV: 40% (80 Proof) ❖ Aged 5 Years […]
