La Gritona Tequila Reposado

La Gritona is a reposado tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. Owner and operator Melly Barajas, along with a group of local women, produce this tequila in a small distillery using locally grown agave. The bottle is also produced locally; hand-blown using recycled glass in a city an hour away.

Since it’s a reposado tequila, La Gritona is slightly aged before bottling. The spirit sits in ex-Jack Daniels barrels for 8 months to accentuate the agave characteristics without adding too much flavor from the barrel. The Dalmore 12 Year is the least expensive entry in the Principle Collection of whiskies from The Dalmore Distillery. This legendary distillery was founded in 1839 and is located in the Northern Highland region of Scotland. Each of the different Scottish regions produce distinctly flavored whiskies and the Highland scotches tend to have sweet and fruity notes.

Suntory, the legendary Japanese distillery, has long history of crafting fine spirits and Roku Gin is one of their newest releases. This gin is meant to celeberate the beauty of Japan and includes different elements from Japanese environment and culture.

“Roku” means six in Japanese and refers to the six Japanese botanicals in the gin. They’re all sourced from Japan and harvested from each of the four seasons. Sakura flower and leaf from spring, sencha tea and gyokuro tea from summer, sancho pepper from fall and yuzu peel from winter. There are eight in the recipe including juniper berries and bitter orange peel.
