About Barsol Quebranta Pisco

BarSol Quebranta Pisco is produced by BarSol – an Ica, Peru based brand that produces small batch Pisco in a variety of expressions.

The grapes used in their piscos are hand selected, de-stemmed, and macerated. They are then fermented, using only the natural yeast from the grape skins, for about 10-20 days. It is distilled one time in copper pot stills, before the heart is removed and rested for at least 12 months. Each pisco is hand bottled, without any dilution to reach its proof. It is advertised as not containing additives.

This particular bottle of Quebranta Pisco uses Quebranta grapes, which are less aromatic than the other grape varieties used in other BarSol expressions.

My Tasting notes

The aroma of this Pisco was vibrant and sweet, with clear grape notes that were almost like a grape candy scent. There was some heat on the nose.

My first sip was fairly smooth in front, with some tingling heat in the middle, and a burst of grape flavor in the finish. After several sips, I noticed the grape notes took on a more earthy and almost toasted quality. Overall, the flavor of this particular variety of grape felt complex and interesting.

I really enjoyed this pisco inside of a cocktail. The earthiness of the grape flavor was nicely balanced with the sweetness of the gingerale, which made for a tasty and interesting drink. The flavor was consistent with each sip, and the alcohol was pretty smooth.

Bottom Line

RATING: 4/5

Overall, I had a good experience with BarSol Quebranta Pisco. The earthy and fruity grape notes made for an interesting and enjoyable cocktail. Although I’ve certainly reviewed piscos that have wowed me more, I think it’s a solid choice for the price point, and I feel comfortable recommending it to others.

What stood out to me the most about this pisco was the uniqueness of the grape flavor compared to other varietals I have tried, as described above. I feel that it rounds out my pisco collection nicely, and brings a different character to the cocktail that it’s in. In addition, I really appreciate that it is additive free. It takes a quality spirit to be smooth and well balanced without the help of additives. If you get the chance, I recommend picking yourself up a bottle of BarSol Quebranta.

As always, drink responsibly.
